This type of furniture was first used in the early 1700's in North America. Rocking chairs before are just ordinary chairs with two rockers placed at the bottom. People usually place it outside of their houses. It adds beauty to their garden with flowers and amazing landscapes. As time went by, people uses it as an indoor type of furniture where they can enjoy it more while watching television, reading a magazine or taking a nap. Indoor rocking chairs these are types of chairs that are not made to withstand the weather and outdoor elements.

The said furniture are made sometimes with protection like UV rays but still cannot stand the harsh weather. Users can simply change the cushions if they want to use the furniture, either cushion for indoor or outdoor. Indoor rocking chairs are commonly used in nursery, family rooms and bedrooms. In the nursery, it usually used by mothers to calm the crying baby and falls asleep. In the family room, it is where a sitter can enjoy using it while watching television, reading books or magazines.
Outdoor rocking chairs Made to withstand the harsh sun or rain, manufacturers should make rocking chairs both weather proof and color proof. The Classic is mostly made from wood with a classic wooden back spindles and it is used for a rustic or cottage look that consumers prefer. The Adirondack is also made of wood with its defining characteristics; it includes wide, flat arms, a slanted back and wide, flat back slats.
